Whatever you’ve got planned for New Year’s Eve, it’s always nice to know that some things never change – somewhere around here, at the stroke of midnight, there will be fireworks.

The City of St. Petersburg’s got it going on, right there on and around the St. Pete Pier. Starting at 8 p.m. Wednesday, there’ll be lights, noise, an onstage DJ, food and beverage trucks, everything required for a big, fun, loud public celebration.

Fireworks over Tampa Bay begin at midnight.

Admission is free, although tickets are available for seating in a special reserved area.

In addition, all PSTA bus routes, including the SunRunner and Spark, will be free on New Year’s Eve. Routes 4, 18, 34, and 52 will also run until 1 a.m. Here’s route and schedule info.

There will also be free midnight fireworks displays on Treasure Island (near Gulf Front Park, 10400 Gulf Blvd) and by Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach.
