We’re a decade into St. Pete’s renaissance. So what lies on the other side of St. Pete’s potential? In our new series, St. Pete 2.0, we’re exploring elevating St. Pete to the ‘next level’. We’re asking business and civic leaders for their vision of what it means to realize our potential as a city. We’re exploring what we have to do to get there.

Today’s leader: J.P. DuBuque. DuBuque is President of the St. Petersburg Economic Development Corporation, and  “Storyteller in Chief” for St. Petersburg’s business community. Not only is he on the cutting edge of growing and developing local business and fulfilling the Grow Smarter initiative, he’s also one of the main players in charge of cultivating St. Pete’s potential by recruiting companies from outside our market.

DuBuque sat down with the Catalyst to get down to brass tacks on stimulating economic development in St. Petersburg while keeping St. Pete’s “funk” alive. He talks the importance of education, commercial and residential real estate at all price points and the skill sets St. Pete needs to continue to grow.
