St. Pete condo sells in record-breaking deal

A condo in St. Pete’s Ovation tower, with unobstructed views of downtown’s skyline and waterfront, has set a new historic condo sale record.
The entire 22nd floor of the luxury residential building at 180 Beach Dr. NE sold in a $7.45 million all-cash deal, Coldwell Banker Realty broker and listing agent Rafal Wazio told the St. Pete Catalyst. The seller was Community Health Solution of America CEO Dale Schmidt and his wife, Cheryl Haigley, according to property records.
Nancy Leslie, a broker at Re/Max Realtec Group Inc., represented the out-of-state buyer.
The sale breaks the previous St. Petersburg record-breaking condo deal of a penthouse at Vinoy Place, which sold for $7.3 million last year.

Despite the unit not being a traditional penthouse, which commonly yields high-priced deals, the buyer was impressed by the sweeping panoramic views of Tampa Bay stretching from the St. Pete Pier District to downtown Tampa.
“They were adamant about having a unit with the best view of Tampa Bay,” Wazio said. The condo features multiple terraces.
Wazio previously represented Ben Mallah in 2019, when the real estate businessman purchased former Philadelphia Phillies slugger Ryan Howard’s Belleair Shores estate. Wazio also served as the listing agent for the Century Oaks Estate and was involved in the $4 million sale of a Clearwater home that was tied to Hollywood actor John Travolta.

The 7,320-square-foot Ovation condo, constructed in 2011, was listed on the market in February with an asking price of $8.5 million.
The sale breaks down to roughly $1,025 per square foot.
The four-bedroom, six-bathroom condo has a double-sided living room that’s encased in floor-to-ceiling windows.

The unit has darker finishes with the custom cabinetry and wood floors.
The sale of the condo includes four designated parking spaces in the building.

According to a description of the 28-story Ovation high-rise, each of the 43 condos at Ovation is estate-sized and has private elevator foyers.
The complex’s amenities include a resort-style pool and a fitness center.

Bud, Dale Schmidt didnt own the condo. Community Health Solutions does not sell health insurance. Instead of making snarky comments, consider doing research first.
