Dr. Sheron Brown, To Lead the Local Health Equity Nonprofit

DUNEDIN, FL – The Tampa Bay Healthcare Collaborative (TBHC) recently announced that Dr. Sheron Brown has been named Executive Director of their nonprofit devoted to promoting and advancing the health and wellness of the underserved through community collaborations.

Dr. Brown, a community health advocate and former educational leader, served as a wellness educator, consultant and coach to schools, school leaders, and women of color who struggle with chronic diseases through her company Sweet Eden by Sheron. She succeeds Carrie Hepburn who held the TBHC Executive Director post for eight years.

“On behalf of the TBHC Board of Directors, we wholeheartedly welcome Dr. Brown into this important community leadership role. We are at a pivotal point in which achieving health equity is a growing priority for many local organizations and stakeholders. TBHC has an opportunity to advance its vision of becoming the leading catalyst in the movement towards health equity in Tampa Bay,” stated Board Chair, Dr. Alicia Best. “We are very excited about our next chapter, and we would like to thank Carrie for her time and commitment to TBHC over the past several years.”

Dr. Brown’s hiring comes as the TBHC enters its next phase of strategic planning to raise its level of excellence in fostering community relationships, building the organizational capacity of its members, and promoting access to health and healthcare services.

“I am both humbled and honored to have the opportunity to lead the Tampa Bay Healthcare Collaborative. The organization is poised to grow into its vision and build on the tremendous momentum of the last eight years. I look forward to leading TBHC to the next level in service to our members and community as we ignite the spark of the health equity movement in Tampa Bay,” added Dr. Brown.

Dr. Brown joins TBHC from her private health and wellness practice based in Laurel, MD. She holds a Ph.D. in Professional Studies in Education from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN, a Master’s degree in education from the University of New Haven in West Haven, CT, and a Bachelor’s in Accounting from Howard University in Washington, DC.
