Teenage entrepreneur develops energy storage product

Noah Bild always knew he wanted to make a difference and build something impactful, ever since he was a little kid.
The OffGrid Pro, a Bild-designed energy storage solution, is the 19-year-old Pinellas entrepreneur’s first product on the market. It will be available in October through his company, Bild Power.
An advanced power station, it features a battery with 30 individual cells and a 7200 watt power output. In other words, it can handle electrical needs for long periods of time. OffGrid Pro can power AC, phone or laptop for hours or even days.
Once the solar panels are connected, he said, a refrigerator could conceivably operate “indefinitely.”
Bild says his product, which is classified as a sustainable energy storage system, will be certified by UL Solutions, the country’s preeminent safety-ensuring product tester. Certifications for the OffGrid Pro are currently in the works; the power station will not be shipped until plans are approved.
“I originally wanted to have energy independence from the grid. Florida has always had issues with the power going out for a couple of weeks at a time after hurricanes, all of our food is going bad, we don’t have a way to connect with people,” he said.
“We’re going to make it so people don’t have to rely on an unstable grid that progressively is getting hard to keep up with.”
OffGrid Pro is the result of two years of research and development.
After exploring energy sustainability, Bild became passionate about renewable energy. By 16, he started to explore lithium battery technology and his Palm Harbor garage became his laboratory.
“I used to have RC cars, and I always used to take them apart and I think working with my hands and putting stuff back together has always been a fun part [of the experience],” he explained.
“If I could power something and make it go or just to supply energy, that’s super cool so I think that kinda fed me into doing more battery-type products.”
Bild’s experimentation led to the development of the OffGrid Pro, which is capable of more than 6,000 charge cycles. The device can be recharged via solar within three hours, he said.
Bild’s mother, Traci Bild, a professional operations consultant and entrepreneur, is actively involved in Bild Power. She serves as the company’s Chief Operations Officer; however, she encourages her son to oversee every aspect of the business.
For her, the role is very special.
“It’s a pleasure to coach him, because he’s very coachable, so we have official meetings every week. We have a list of things we need to sit down and talk about, whether it’s sales, marketing, certifications …” Traci Bild said.
“And it’s fun, because he actually listens, he has to execute, it’s his business, so I kind of see myself as his mentor and coach.”
Noah Bild has a vision for his company’s future. While the OffGrid Pro is currently being manufactured in China, he hopes to bring manufacturing for all future products to the United States.
His long-term dream is to create his own car business, specializing in battery innovation.
