The closing film at this weekend’s 17th annual Sunscreen Film Festival is L’Age d’Or (The Golden Age), the debut feature from French filmmaker Jenna Suru.

Set in 1967, the subtitled drama follows Sebastian (played by Sebastien Cippolla) and Angele (Suru, who also wrote and directed) as they create a theatrical project while enjoying the breathtaking beauty of Saint-Tropez, on the French Riviera.

In this Zoom interview from her home in Paris, Suru discusses the film, its intentions and its message, and talks about the process of dreaming up – and realizing – the story of a creative collaboration against one of the world’s most beautiful backdrops.
