New HQ in St. Pete

CP Communications, a broadcast and live events production service provider, opened its headquarters  in St. Petersburg,  at 9965 18th St. N. The office will house business and technical operations and a production studio, TVTEchnology reported.

Area home prices climb in 2018

The median sales price for a single family home in the Tampa-St. Pete metro in 2018 was $235,000, a 6.8 percent increase over 2017. There were 48,161 closed sales for single family homes in 2018, about on par with the previous year, a report from Florida Realtors said.

Nonprofit aims to transform Tampa Bay transit

A new nonprofit, the Tampa Bay Mobility Alliance, says it will serve as the public engagement arm advocating for transportation options in the area.  The organization will launch on Feb. 26, a press release said.

Summit expands in St. Pete

Summit Real Estate Group bought a 230,586-square-foot, five-property industrial portfolio in St. Petersburg. The properties are in the Westbay Corporate Center and the Metropointe Commerce Center. Farallon Capital Management sold the facilities for $17.4 million.

Staples buys Dex Imaging in Tampa

Staples Inc. signed a deal to buy Dex Imaging in Tampa. Financial terms were not disclosed. Dex sells document imaging equipment and software and had $228.6 million in 2017 revenue. Dan Doyle Sr., Dex chaiman; Dan Doyle Jr., president and CEO; and their executive team are expected to stay on after the deal closes.

Airport traffic gains

Bolstered by the new Flair Airlines service to Winnipeg, St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport served 155,444 passengers in January. Overall traffic increased by 8 percent compared to January 2018, although domestic service dipped 4 percent.

AAA plans Tampa expansion

The Auto Club Group plan to build a 17,000-square-foot Car Care Plus facility in Westshore. The structure will offer car care, travel, insurance, banking and membership services. A groundbreaking is scheduled Thursday.

Heritage Insurance takes $11M charge

Heritage Insurance Holdings (NYSE: HRTG) in Clearwater announced a pre-tax charge of $11.3 million for Q4 2018. The charge is associated with 2018 debt transactions and the headquarters relocation of a company Heritage bought in 2017.

MarineMax, MasterCraft partner

MasterCraft Boat Holdings struck an exclusive national distribution partnership with MarineMax, a Clearwater-based boat and yacht retailer. The partnership is designed to help maximize the success of MasterCraft’s new brand, Aviara.

Cott transforms

Cott Corp. sold its soft drink concentration production business and its RCI International division to Refresco for $50 million. It’s the final step in Tampa-based Cott’s transformation away from bottling to focus on water and coffee, said CEO Tom Harrington.

PIE parking closures

The ground transportation lot at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport will close beginning Feb. 11 for 30 to 60 days, as part of an ongoing project. Passenger pickup will be in front of the terminal. Beginning Feb. 18, the short-term parking lot will close for six months.
