The Floridian Social is spreading holiday cheer in a big way this season with the debut of a “Christmas in New York” themed pop-up bar, opening Dec. 8. This is the second year the Central Avenue event venue is decking out its second-floor mezzanine into a winter wonderland inspired by New York City’s most iconic holiday scenes.

“Each loft is a different borough of New York, so we’ll have Times Square with a clock for the New Year’s countdown, Rockefeller Center, Fifth Avenue and all the street signs to go along with it,” said Venue Director Sally Gatza.

“Christmas in New York” features iconic NYC holiday scenes throughout The Floridian Social’s mezzanine.

Gatza added that they chose the Christmas in New York theme to fit the atmosphere of the historic entertainment venue, which was purchased in 2019 by realtor Kevin Chadwick and reopened in 2021 after a multi-million dollar renovation.

“The Floridian is really swanky, with black and gold accents, so it doesn’t really lend itself to anything really cutesy,” Gatza explained. “It has to be an elegant Christmas, and when you’re walking down the streets of New York holding a hot coffee or hot chocolate, there’s just a very specific feeling about that, so we are trying to recreate that in a small space.”

The pop-up bar also includes a “Holiday Rat Pack Show” with live jazz from Bryan J. Hughes and The Crew every Sunday. In addition to holiday lights, decor and live music, patrons can expect an immersive experience complete with themed cocktails

“Christmas in New York” at the Floridian Social features special holiday-themed cocktails, many served in decorative drinkware.

“We have a really fun group cocktail where they’ll get a real mini Chrismas tree and it comes with ornaments on it that are filled with a drink – we’re calling it ‘Elf Ozempic’,” Gatza said. “Then you open up the ornament and pour it into a coupe glass. It serves four to six people.”

Christmas in New York will be open starting at 6 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays Dec. 8 through 22.
