If you’re searching for ways to give back, the Catalyst’s Impact Connector is here to help. Each week, we feature five organizations in the Tampa Bay area that need your input, whether that’s time, talent, items, funding or simply awareness. We’re certain you’ll find something here that matches your interests and will positively impact the community.

Cartin’ Tarpon Poker Run

Cartin’ Tarpon, a volunteer-driven group in Tarpon Springs that hosts events to benefit local charities, is hosting the Cartin’ Tarpon Poker Run, Saturday, Sept. 6 from 3 until 10 p.m.

How it works: Participants travel to a series of checkpoints and collect a playing card at each stop. At the end, each person’s cards form a poker hand. Those with the best and worst hands win prizes. Bonus cards may be purchased to improve your hand. Raffle tickets to win gift baskets, gift cards or the 50/50 cash prize will be sold at check-in and at each stop.

All proceeds will benefit Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches – Safety Harbor Campus.

Check-in begins at 3 p.m. at Brighter Days Brewing Company, 311 North Safford Avenue, Tarpon Springs. Tickets start at $25.

Help plant a native butterfly garden

Indian Rocks Beach Action 2000 and Keep Pinellas Beautiful are hosting a garden workday, Saturday, Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.

Volunteers will assist with planting a native butterfly garden. All ages are welcome; however, volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Closed-toe shoes, such as boots or sneakers, are recommended. Bring weather appropriate clothing and sun protection. Gloves and tools will be provided and a water refill station will be available.

S.T.O.R.Y 727 Gala volunteers needed

S.T.O.R.Y. 727 is seeking volunteers for its “We Are the Villages Gala” at the James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art, Saturday, Sept. 13 from 3 until 11 p.m.

The organization’s mission is to improve the lives and futures of the youth in historically excluded communities through personal awareness, literacy development, financial teachings, social activities and travel.

The Gala will raise funds for a central space to house programs and create sustainable solutions for families in need.

Volunteers are needed for general support staff, security and capturing the event through photography and videography.

The James Museum is located at 150 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg. For more information and to sign up, click here.

Feeding Pinellas needs food pantry volunteers

Feeding Pinellas opens its on-site food pantry to the community every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Volunteers are needed to assist guests with check-in and paperwork, restocking shelves, shopping assistance and more.

The minimum age to volunteer is 16. All volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes and appropriate attire.

Feeding Pinellas is located at 6330 54th Avenue N., St. Petersburg.

Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver lunchtime meals to homebound seniors – usually weekdays between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at various locations throughout Pinellas County.

Transportation Drivers ensure Neighborly clients safely arrive on time and return home from medical appointments, pharmacies and other travel needs. Volunteers assist for a two- to four-hour block between 8:45 a.m. and 4 p.m.
