For some, spirituality, meditation and yoga are simply practices. But for Ashley Smith, they are a way of life. As a energetic healer, yogi, mentor and teacher, Smith lives out her beliefs in her work, both one-on-one and in workshop/retreat settings. Smith has seen the power of energetic healing and mindfulness in her own life, and now shares her knowledge with clients throughout the Tampa Bay area.

Years in Tampa Bay

I was born and raised here in St. Petersburg. Lived abroad in Southeast Asia for a couple of years and have been back sharing what I love for the last 4.5 years.

Psycho-Spiritual Healer, Ceremonialist, and Kundalini Yoga + Meditation Teacher

What do you do?

,
In essence, I wake people up! Most of us, from a young age are conditioned to live in a disempowered way. We can have incredible parents who absolutely do their best, but majority of our cultural conditioning encourages a disempowered orientation towards life – teaching us to seek answers, solutions and the like OUTSIDE of our selves.

It is my work and my passion to offer deep and profound experiences for my clients. Clients come to me for real transformation, when traditional therapy isn’t cutting it, when they’re in need of a deep overhaul and shift in perception. I work with something I call “core-wound healing,” getting to the root of a false belief that has manifested into negative patterns that keep arising in someone’s life. In addition to my private practice, I share sacred tea ceremonies all around the world, I teach Kundalini Yoga – the Yoga of Awareness at Intent Space – here in St. Petersburg, and lead women’s retreats, new and full moon women’s circles and workshops.

Why do you do it?

I do the work I do because I feel like I have no choice! Besides absolutely being on fire and in love with the process of co-creating empowerment and wholeness with people, I think I was born wanting to see others happy, healthy and free.

More and more people are being diagnosed with mystery illnesses, battling depression and anxiety, addiction and other diseases that traditional medicine and therapies are just not able to support. I believe that we have to keep evolving and expanding, and that many of these issues are needing to be met with a more spiritual orientation.

What was your Catalyst? (How did you get started?)

My catalyst occurred in 2009 at the age of 19 when I was confronted with life or death health crisis that left me no choice but to pursue alternative methods for healing. This pursuit, which started out as a quest for finding solutions to heal myself on the physical level, ended up taking me down a path that led to a profound spiritual awakening that totally changed my whole orientation to life.

A tumor that was causing brain erosion and skull deterioration had remarkably reduced in half its size. In this “miracle moment,” my whole life changed and I could never go back to sleep. I was inspired to explore my own potential to heal in greater depths, and I have been continuing to do that for myself and others ever since!

What’s a common misconception or unknown aspect of what you do?

That my work is just for “the spiritually inclined.” I work with men and women from as young as 17 to 70, and they are from all walks of life.

What’s the most challenging part of your Hustle?

The most challenging part of my hustle is that people don’t always intellectually understand what it is that I do so, and to be honest, my work is not meant to be understood with the thinking mind; this work is of the heart- a place within us that is much too often neglected in these pressurized times. I keep steady within myself, knowing that I will be here as more and more people wake up.

What’s the most valuable piece of business advice/insight that’s helped you?

This piece by the Dalai Lama that I have in my kitchen and that I read almost every day!
“Never give up / No matter what is going on / Never give up / Develop the heart / Too much energy in your country / Is spent developing the mind / Instead of the heart / Be compassionate / Not just to your friends / But to everyone / Be compassionate / Work for peace / In your heart and in the world / Work for peace.”
