Tampa-based Women Ambassadors Forum is bringing author and facilitator Nilimi Bhat to St. Petersburg’s Valpak headquarters on Friday, Sept. 20 to speak about the central messages of her book, Shakti Leadership.
Bhat spoke with St. Pete Catalyst Publisher Joe Hamilton earlier this week to preview her talk, share her connection with Conscious Capitalism and explain the origins of her book.
Bhat’s Shakti Leadership touts creating an integrated leadership approach utilizing both eastern and western principles for both women and men. Bhat provides tools to flex both feminine and masculine traits to embrace power as a leader. She explains why women are particularly drawn to this model of leadership, how it differs from more traditional models and how it is able to meet this particular moment in a changing world and business climate.
She argues for present, mindful leaders not led by ego, who focus not just on desired outcomes that are good for everyone, but a leadership process that brings everyone along. “No one has to lose in order for us to win,” Bhat explained. “We can actually figure out solutions that are good for all.”
Bhat shares her story searching for meaning and purpose in the height of her very successful corporate career. She talks about the curveballs life has sent her family, and how it enabled both Bhat and her husband to change their career paths and get involved with Conscious Capitalism.
