Places This Week: Record residential sale on St. Pete Beach

A 5,542 square-foot home located at 2709 Sunset Way, St. Pete Beach sold Aug. 2 for $11.4 million – breaking the record, according to the agent, for the highest-priced sale of a single family home in the city of St. Pete Beach. The original listing price was $12.4 million. The transaction represents the most paid for a residential property in Pinellas County this year to date.
The three-story, 5-bedroom and 7-bath estate was built in 2015 and is situated on a 0.21-acre parcel of land. It features 170 feet of waterfrontage and provides unobstructed Gulf of Mexico views that extend from the south end of Pass-a-Grille up to Indian Rocks Beach.
The ground floor provides a large foyer, elevator station, workout room and indoor cabana. On the main level is a fully-equipped catering kitchen with natural gas, double islands and wine and beverage chillers; a library-style office with custom built-ins; and five spacious bedrooms, including the owner’s suite with a balcony overlooking the Gulf. The great room, with an open design and mahogany floors, is located on the top level.
Outside are covered and open seating areas, an outdoor kitchen, an oversized pool and a storage room for beach equipment. A private trail leads from the backyard to the beach. Additional highlights include a three-story spiral staircase, a four-car oversized garage with finished floors and a storage area, a three-station elevator and a whole-house generator.
The seller had purchased the land and prior structure in 2012 for $2.5 million. The listing was provided by Amy Seeks and Don Pellegrino with Compass Florida LLC. Nick Janovsky with Premier Sotheby’s International Realty’s St. Petersburg office represented the buyer.
Old Northeast home offers furnishings and art
Local designer Kim Levell is selling her 3-bedroom, 2-bath home at 155 5th Avenue N. in the Old Northeast neighborhood of St. Petersburg for $1.825 million.
Built in 1925, the residence is being offered fully furnished, including original art and photographs by Florida Highwaymen, Clyde Butcher and more. The two-story, 1,655 square-foot property was recently gutted and renovated to include new Hardie board exterior siding, wool insulation in the walls to prevent mold and create a sound and fire-resistant barrier, upgraded hurricane windows, new plumbing and a new lifetime metal roof.
The interior features custom lighting, and designer curtains, pillows and fabrics. Situated on a 0.04-acre plot of land, the property is fully fenced with a private courtyard entrance in the front of the house.
The seller purchased the property in 2013 for $277,000. The listing is provided by Sarah Howe with Compass Florida LLC.
Former Largo Golden Corral property sells
Following two years on the market, property once occupied by Golden Corral Buffet & Grill at 10050 Ulmerton Rd., Largo sold June 26 for $5.45 million. The deed for the sale was recorded Aug. 7 with the Pinellas County Clerk of the Court.
The restaurant was open for 20 years before closing its doors in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. It has remained dormant ever since. The 9,952 heated square-foot structure was built in 2001 and is situated on a 3.23-acre parcel of land with room for 163 parking spaces.
The property, with 315 feet of frontage on Ulmerton Road, is located next to the Largo Mall with major anchor tenants, including Publix, Target, Petsmart, Bealls, Marshalls and Five Below. It is zoned to be leased “as is” or redeveloped to accommodate multiple leasing opportunities.
The seller, 10050 Ulmerton Road LLC, purchased the parcel in 2017 for $5.24 million. The buyer is WMG Acquisitions, LLC, a real estate and development company based in Winter Garden, Florida.
Newly constructed Scooter’s Coffee franchise property for sale
A newly constructed coffee drive-thru property, located at 9299 4th Street N., St. Petersburg, has listed for sale with an asking price of $2.175 million. The 664 square-foot structure, situated on a 0.35-acre of land, will be completed in September and occupied by Scooter’s Coffee, a specialty coffee franchise with 800 locations in 30 states across the country.
Founded in 1998, the franchise expects to open 14 units in Florida. Highlights include a 25-year NNN lease with five, five-year options to renew; a 10% rent increase every five years; zero landlord responsibilities with taxes, insurance and maintenance paid for by the tenant; high visibility on 4th Street N; and major retailers, including Wal-Mart, McDonald’s, Chipotle and Publix, surrounding the property.
The owner and developer, Smart Starz LLC, based in Tampa, purchased the vacant land in May 2022 for $805,000. The listing is provided by Dominic DeSoto and Neil Naran with Value Net Lease Partners, and Scott Reid with ParaSell, Inc.
Old Southeast quadruplex lists for sale
A four-unit, multi-family property, located at 240 20th Avenue S. in St. Peterburg’s Old Southeast neighborhood, has listed for sale with an asking price of $910,000. The four residences are located within two structures, both built in 1939.
The front building is a one-story, 951 square-foot structure with two 1-bedroom and 1 bath apartments, each with a separate entrance. The back building is a two-story structure with two storage spaces occupying the 672 square-foot lower level and two studio apartments on the 672 square-foot upper floor. Access is available from two outdoor staircases and one shared inside.
All of the units have been well-maintained with a mix of tile and refurbished hard wood floors. A new roof was installed on the front building in 2023. Situated on a 0.15-acre parcel of land, the property is just south of downtown St. Petersburg and within walking distance to Lassing Park.
It was last purchased in 2005 for $221,000. The listing is provided by Davis Nunneley with Bridgewater Commercial Real Estate.
Clearwater Court St. property lists
Located on a direct route from downtown Clearwater to Clearwater Beach, a two building, 7,135 square-foot property at 1111 Court St., Clearwater has listed for sale with an asking price of $950,000.
The structures are divided between a 4,975 square-foot space where the owner operates I’ll Pump You Up, a body building vitamin and nutrition store, and a 2,100 square-foot area that once housed a body building gym. Both structures were built in 1958.
Highlights include roll-up doors in the back of both buildings and new AC, electrical, bathrooms, flooring and paint.
The owner, MK Supplements LLC, purchased the property in 2021 for $395,000. The listing is provided by David Kerr with High Point Realty Inc.
