Largo cleanup at Bayhead Action Park

The City of Largo, in partnership with Keep Pinellas Beautiful, is holding a cleanup at Bayhead Action Park, Saturday, Aug. 22 from 8 until 11 a.m. Volunteers will help pick up litter and debris in the park and surrounding areas. All ages are welcome.

Closed toe shoes, weather appropriate clothing and sun protection are strongly recommended.

Volunteers under the age of 18 must be signed in by a parent or guardian, and anyone under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Cleanup supplies will be provided and a water refill station will be available. Onsite parking is free.

Bayhead Action Park is located at 375 Seminole Blvd., Largo. Volunteers are asked to arrive a few minutes early to sign in.

Tennis instructors wanted – no experience necessary

ACEing Autism empowers children on the autism spectrum to build confidence, connection and lifelong skills through tennis. Founded in 2008, the organization currently serves over 6,000 children across 200 locations nationwide.

ACEing Autism’s Clearwater chapter is seeking volunteers to help teach tennis to local kids with autism. No tennis experience is required.

By volunteering, you will give children who often feel excluded a place to connect and grow, encourage confidence and new skills, and create an environment where everyone in the community is welcomed.

Volunteers receive training on how to engage participants through various drills and games. All volunteers must be 14 and older and complete registration and waiver forms.

Fall classes will take place on Wednesdays – Sept. 9, 16, 23, 30 and Oct. 7 and 14 – from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m. at the LiFT Academy at 1005 S. Highland Avenue, Clearwater.

Mercy Keepers seeks volunteers

Mercy Keepers, Inc. supports and promotes the welfare of people living in St. Petersburg by providing food pantry services, clothing, affordable housing and senior living accommodations. It serves approximately 500 households per month.

Mercy Keepers' food pantry is funded 100% by in-kind donations. Food is supplied by Hope Villages of America and St. Petersburg Free Clinic, and is distributed every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Volunteers are needed the second and fourth Monday of every month for a few hours each day to help bag canned goods that were donated the week prior and which will be distributed later that week.

Homeless Leadership Alliance of Pinellas Volunteer Opportunities

The Homeless Leadership Alliance of Pinellas, whose mission is to prevent, divert and end homelessness in Pinellas County, offers a variety of ways to help support its work.

Volunteer opportunities include translating documents, resource guides and forms for clients; administrative tasks such as website maintenance, document creation and data entry; creating and sharing social media content through various outlets; delivering documents, supplies and food to clients and partners; and other roles.

Volunteers must be at least 12 years old, and anyone ages 12 to 16 needs to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Redington Shores sunset cleanup and sound bath

Keep Pinellas Beautiful and Beach Yoga Pinellas are joining together for a sunset cleanup and sound bath Sunday, Aug. 16 at Redington Shores Beach.

The cleanup will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by a sound bath session – an immersive sound healing experience that uses therapeutic frequencies and vibration to regulate the nervous system and reduce stress – beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Volunteers should wear closed toe shoes, weather appropriate clothing and sun protection. All supplies will be provided and restrooms are available onsite.

The cleanup will begin at Redington Shores Beach Access, 18200 Gulf Boulevard. Parking passes will be provided to volunteers.

The Blue Urban Project underwater cleanup

The Blue Urban Project advances blue urbanism by connecting people, cities and marine ecosystems to build communities that are healthier, safer and more sustainable.

In partnership with The Florida Aquarium and Letts Dive, the organization is hosting an underwater cleanup, Saturday, Aug. 22 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Bay Fishing Pier at Fort De Soto Park.

Diver and topside volunteers are needed to help remove debris from the water and protect the local marine environment.

Fort De Soto Park is located at 3500 Pinellas Bayway S., Tierra Verde.

Event volunteers needed

Harbor Dish, Inc. is a mobile community café created in 2013 that transforms donated food into refined cuisine. It works with local farmers, businesses and volunteers to enrich lives and reduce food waste.

Harbor Dish serves over 20 nonprofits in the Tampa Bay area that provide food to the homeless, home bound seniors, veterans and other underserved communities.

Volunteers are needed to help out at events, including set-up, hospitality and tear-down. Some lifting may be required.

Volunteers must be 14 year or older, attend an orientation and commit to two or more hours per event.

Great Southeast Pollinator Census

The Pinellas Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society is holding a pollinator census event Friday, Aug. 21 and Saturday, Aug. 22, beginning at 8 a.m. each day, at Moccasin Lake Nature Park in Clearwater. Volunteers are needed to count bees, butterflies and other flower visitors.

Each participant will choose a plant, monitor it for 15 minutes and count how many pollinators visit. No experience is needed and insect identification and counting guides are provided.

This is a great opportunity for school groups, gardeners, families and individuals to be a part of the University of Georgia’s Great Southeast Pollinator Census, which will simultaneously take place in Florida and five other southeastern states.

Mangrove and Shoreline Cleanup

Woodie’s Wash Shack and Keep Pinellas Beautiful are seeking volunteers for a shoreline and mangrove cleanup at North Gandy Beach Friday, Aug. 21 from 8 until 11 a.m.

Volunteers must wear closed toe shoes; weather appropriate clothing and sun protection are recommended.

Cleanup supplies will be provided and a water refill station will be available onsite.

Volunteers needed for Tampa Bay Ray Games

Live Life With Purpose International is a global organization that serves as a catalyst for women’s empowerment. It helps to educate and enhance the lives of women who are experiencing homelessness, health disparities and economic inequalities.

The organization’s local chapter is seeking volunteers to manage its beer and pretzel stands at Tropicana Field for the Tampa Bay Rays’ home games.

Volunteers must be 18 years or older and a valid issued government ID is required.
