For more than 20 years, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) has conducted an annual nationwide food drive on the second Saturday in May. Using the unparalleled postal networks, letter carriers collect non-perishable food donations on that day as they deliver mail along their postal routes. It is held in 10,000 cities and towns in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam. The SPFC Jared S. Hechtkopf Community Food Bank distributed over 20 million pounds of food this year - that is 17 million meals. SPFC's We Help FRESH Pantry provided OVER 300,000 individuals this past year with nutritious food, that's approximately 8,000 households with over 10,000 children served each month.
