Keep Pinellas County Red, White and Blue-tiful!

Keep Pinellas Beautiful is hosting cleanups throughout Pinellas County on Saturday, July 5 following July 4th celebrations. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Cleanup supplies and a water refill station will be available at all locations. It is recommended to wear closed-toe shoes and weather-appropriate clothing, and bring along a hat and sunglasses.

11th Annual Love McKinley Dinner and Charity Golf Tournament

The Love McKinley Fund, in partnership with Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, works to improve resources available to families throughout their course of treatment for pediatric cancer. The organization will be hosting a dinner and auction, Friday, July 18 at 7 p.m. at the St. John Bosco Center for the Arts at St. Petersburg Catholic High School, followed by its 11th annual charity golf tournament at Bardmoor Golf Course with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m.

Tampa Bay Watch Seeks Touch Tank and Tabling Volunteers

Tampa Bay Watch seeks volunteers to help keep visitors engaged by educating them about the local ecosystem and creatures on display in its Discovery Center touch tank, on the St. Pete Pier. The Discovery Center requires a commitment of at least one half-day shift per week for three months. No prior experience is required; you will be provided with a training guide and shadow an experienced person before you begin. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and have a driver’s license.

Seniors in Service

Seniors in Service engages volunteers aged 55+ to help underserved people throughout Tampa Bay, including isolated elders, disadvantaged children, disabled adults and more. Founded in 1984, the organization engages more than 1,500 volunteers annually, and has provided over five million hours of community assistance. Many opportunities exist for Pinellas County residents, including feeding hungry families, bringing smiles to seniors, visiting veterans and mentoring children. You can even sign up to spend as little as an hour a week, calling and checking in on someone and letting them know they’re not forgotten—all from the comfort of home.

Homeless Leadership Alliance of Pinellas

The Homeless Leadership Alliance of Pinellas, whose mission is to prevent, divert and end homelessness in Pinellas County, offers a variety of volunteer roles to help support its work.

Opportunities include translating documents, resource guides and forms for clients; administrative tasks such as website maintenance, document creation and data entry; creating and sharing social media content through various outlets; delivering documents, supplies and food to clients and partners; and other miscellaneous roles.

Volunteers must be at least 12 years old, and anyone ages 12 to 16 needs to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Clearwater Celebrates America

The City of Clearwater's Department of Parks & Recreation is looking for volunteers to help decorate Coachman Park for the city’s 4th of July celebration.

Two shifts are available: Wednesday, July 2 from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. and Thursday, July 3 from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m.

Volunteers will help stake pinwheels, wrap bollards in ribbon, tie up bows, cover the stage and more.

Positive Impact Grocery Distribution

Every Saturday from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m., Positive Impact St. Pete distributes free groceries at Tangerine Plaza in South St. Petersburg. Volunteers are needed to sort food and prepare grocery boxes for those who walk up or drive through the car line.

The main shift runs from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.; however, volunteers who are not able to work the full four hours may choose a half shift - either 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Children must be at least 8 years old and those eight to 12 are required to be accompanied by a parent, guardian or adult chaperone. Individuals, schools, clubs and other groups are encouraged to sign up.

Tangerine Plaza is located at 1770 22nd Street S., St. Petersburg. Parking for volunteers is available.

Habitat for Humanity Nuts & Bolts Orientation

On Thursday, July 3 from 6 – 7 p.m., Habitat Tampa Bay Gulfside is holding a one-hour session to learn about volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and the Habitat homeownership program.

Attendees will receive information about each of Habitat’s pillars—Apply, Donate, Volunteer and Advocate—and the various opportunities in each area. The orientation will be held at Habitat’s Education Center at 13355 49th Street N., Suite B in Clearwater.

YReads! Literacy Program

The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg YReads! literacy program provides students with reading instruction they need to succeed.

Volunteers are needed to serve as reading mentors for two one-hour sessions on weekday afternoons following school. YReads! mentors work in a small group environment or one-on-one with kindergarten through third grade students, to help them improve their academic performance and develop positive self-esteem.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and pass background and fingerprint checks. Additional training is provided.

Keep Pinellas Beautiful Ambassador Program

Keep Pinellas Beautiful (KPB) is searching for local leaders to become KPB Ambassadors to promote environmental stewardship and empower residents to help conserve our environment. Ambassadors help establish, maintain and supervise the gardening, microplastics, education and cleanup programs.

All interested volunteers are required to join a virtual Zoom session to learn more about how to get involved with KPB events.
